Philosophy of Care

Philosophy of Care

Healthy motherhood is not just for mothers!  Our goal at BCHM is to offer high quality, respectful, and evidence-based health care for all.  Every person has their own relationship to motherhood through their own biology and reproduction.  We respect all experiences and strive to offer services that will support you and your unique story.  To us healthy motherhood means choosing when, if at all, one becomes a mother.  This means access to contraception, promoting females of all ages to learn about their bodies and healthy sexuality, and support for single mother's by choice and LGBTQ families.  It means support during miscarriage, infertility, challenges with breastfeeding, and the postpartum journey.  It also means caring for our aging bodies, whether we chose to or were able to have children or not.   Where ever you are, what ever your choices have been, however your experiences have shaped you, we hope to be able to offer thorough, kind, relationship-based services to meet your needs.

Community

Community

"First we have to understand that feeling connected to other people is one of our most fundamental needs."
                                                                                                                                                                -Bruce Perry

Beyond our clinical health care services, BCHM is dedicated to creating space for families to meet this most fundamental need and connect with one another.  We offer ongoing, regularly weekly opportunities for women to come together and build community with one another.   We also work with community partners to host monthly and quarterly events.  We strive for inclusivity and welcome all mothers, biological or adoptive, regardless of age, gender identity, sexual orientation, and race.  Take a look at our events page for details.  Have an idea or inspiration for a class? Know someone who would be a great fit for facilitating an event with us? Please share with us by calling our office or sending us an email.  We are always trying to grow this important part of our mission!
